REGULATIONS OF THE SUBJECT OF ANATOMY

FOR STUDENTS OF 1st YEAR OF DENTISTRY 

IN ANATOMY DEPARTMENT

The Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze

Academic year 2020/2021

 

  • The classes of Anatomy are conducted according to Regulations of the Studies in Silesian Medical University in Katowice (the enclosure nr 1 of the Ordinance 21/2019  of the Senate of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, 24th of April 2019), the Ordinance Nr 161/2020 from 8th of August 2020year of  His Magnificence Rector of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice concerning the counteracting the spread the Virus SARS-CoV-2 among the community of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice and present Regulations.
  • During all classes student is obliged to keep all ethic and deontological rules, to respect each human.

 

  1. 1.     The rules of participation in classes

 

  • The classes (exercises, seminars, lectures) are conducted according to the Dean’s Regulations, the on-line classes are conducted according to the Regulations of the Head of each Department.
  • Schedule  and topics of the classes, list of the literature, the learning effects included in Syllabuses/Modules are available on each Department web side (http://anatomia-zabrze.sum.edu.pl)
  • Students’ participation in all forms of classes (exercises, seminars, lectures) is mandatory.
  • Student is obliged to attend classes with the student’s group given in the Dean’s Office in the beginning of the academic year.
  • It is forbidden for the Student to attend classes with sickness symptoms (also virus infection) for example: temperature, cough, dyspnoea, sore throat, nasal discharge, smell/taste disorders, headache, general breakdown, weakness etc.
  • Students with infection symptoms, in quarantine or  being treated for COVID-19 at home, should participate in classes on-line, the classes which are in a stationary form should be made up in a form and time agreed by the Head of The Subject.
  • While the stationary form classes Student is:

 

-        obliged to observe the rules of BHP - occupational health and safety,

-        obliged to use the personal protective equipment according to the Rules of State Sanitary Inspector,

-        should take care of the order in the class and leave clean place of his work after the end of the day. For all the shortcomings of materials and instruments and damage of appliances, both the clinical and preclinical students bear the financial responsibility of the group.

-        During exercises using electronic appliances such as cell phones, cameras, notebooks, tablets is forbidden.

 

  • Students are required to participate actively in exercises and seminars, to be prepared systematically for classes and seminars with the material specified in the plan of exercises and seminars and recommended by the assistant.
  • Student is obliged to participate in stationary and on-line classes punctually, in case of classes using e-learning platforms should be also logged in punctually (SUM’s

e-learning Platform, Microsoft Teams).

  • Participation in on-line classes has to be confirmed by the Student in e-learning system in the same hours as in the timetable, His activity must be synchronous.
  • During exercises and final grades using electronic appliances such as cell phones, cameras, notebooks, tablets and recording is forbidden.
  • All learning materials are subject to copyright  protection.
  • Disturbing copyright protection and image protection (recording, photographing, coping, registering) will result the disciplinary action.

 

  1. 2.     Rules of excusing the absence and making up the abandoned classes

 

  • Every  absence on the classes must be excused by giving to the assistant on the first class after the absence appropriate certificate (from a doctor, court, official).
  • The absence caused by:

-        Participation in meeting of collegial bodies of University,

-        Official representation of the University,

-        Participation for University cases organized or co-organized by Student Council,

-         Participation in retake exam,

            are justify without necessity of doing again exercises according to the appropriate           certificate.

 

  • The absence on the classes because of the random causes/health problems making it impossible to take part in, must be redone in a time and form agreed by the Head of the Department/Head of the classes with a different group or during the retake exercises week by the end of the semester.

 

 

  1. 3.     The rules to pass the classes

 

  • The necessary condition to pass seminars, lectures or exercised using e-learning platforms is participation in all planned classes according to timetable, by logging in to the system (e-learning platform) and getting positive grade from verbal or written form test, which are checking the knowledge got during the classes.
  • The necessary condition to pass the stationary classes is participation in all exercises and getting positive grade from verbal or written form test, which are checking the knowledge got during the classes.
  • The results of the on-line credit will be placed on e-learning platform
    or in a different way agreed with the student’s group up to three working days.
  • Student has a right to see his written seminar during consultation hours with the assistant up to five working days after getting its’ results and has a right to disregard the grade and ask the Head f the Department to check His work again.
  • In case of not passing the partial credit, Student has  right to take a retake credit in His classes assistant in a time agreed with the Head of the Department or person authorised. 1st retake – up to 30 days from the date of first credit, 2nd retake – up to the end of the semester. Failure to report within the prescribed period will miss the Deadline for the student.

 

  1. 4.     The rules to pass the subject (credit/credit with grade/exam)

 

  • The necessary condition to pass the subject is getting credit with positive grade from all form classes contained in a timetable.
  • The final credit from the subject is realized in a form which is in syllabus (verbal form, written open question form, test), with exception for e-learning form according to the present pandemic SARS-COV-2 situation.
  • Student can have only one final credit or exam with a grade from one subject during one day.
  • The student should be familiar with the subject of the classes, seminars and lectures and recommended literature positions for each semester.
  • Final credit of the subject consist of practical and theoretical form. The grade from practical credit/exam affects the final subject grade in 30% part of final grade (the exact percentage is agreed by the Head of the Department or Head of  the Subject, if the subject is realized in few different Departments the percentage is agreed with the Dean).
  • Detailed rules of getting final credit from the subject, practical and theoretical part is included in different regulations.

 

 

 

 

 

  1. 5.      The rules of grades’ evaluation of  the subject

 

  • According to the Regulations of the Studies in SUM in Katowice the following grading scale is being used:

  1. 6.     Consultations with the assistant and contact with the Department

 

  • Consultation hours are as planned in the timetable which is available on each Department’s  web side (http://anatomia-zabrze.sum.edu.pl)
  • All current administrative matters considering didactic process, for example: questions about doing exercises should be arranged in electronic way; e-mail address to the secretary office of the Department is:  anatomia-zabrze@sum.edu.pl e-mail address the Head of the exercises is: akarmanski@sum.edu.pl.

 

 

  1. 7.     General information

 

  • All the students are absolutely obliged to follow “The Regulations” and also to follow up current information in the Virtual Dean’s Office.
  • The regulations (including form and way of verifications the learning effects) may change during academic year according to the current pandemic situation and Ordinance of  His Magnificence Rector of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, of which Students will be  informed by Virtual Dean’s Office.
  • The Regulations apply from the 1st  of October 2020 year.
  • All disputed issues and not included in this Regulations will be settled according to the current Regulations of the studies in Silesian Medical University in Katowice, the enclosure Nr 1 of the Ordinance 21/2019  of the Senate of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, 24th of April 2019.
